Rachael Sundholm

Rachael was born and raised in the Midwest. Growing up in a family that rarely travelled, Rachael sensed there was a bigger world waiting beyond Michigan's borders. She graduated from the University of Michigan, lived in New York and Chicago, and it wasn’t until she was 24 that she ventured beyond North America for the first time and that single journey changed everything. The travel bug bit hard, and within a year, she had explored Asia, Africa and Europe, embracing the thrill of new cultures and landscapes. Serendipity struck on that very first overseas trip when she met her future husband, setting in motion a life defined by bold moves and new horizons.

Sixteen months later, Rachael traded her sales career in Chicago for a new chapter in London, where she pivoted into financial services recruitment. Never one to sit still, she later co-founded a cosmetics brand in 2018, serving as Chief Product Officer. After living in Europe for 11 years, she and her family embarked on their next great leap in 2019: relocating to Cape Town, where they now call home.

True to her spirit of exploration, Rachael and her family packed just four suitcases in 2024 for a year-long adventure across Southeast Asia, New Zealand, the US, and finally Costa Rica where her family lived for 4 months, a testament to her belief that the best education (and the richest memories) come from seeing the world firsthand.

Now part of the Craft Travel team, Rachael combines her passion for discovery with meticulous planning to craft unforgettable journeys for her clients. Whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime safari, a hidden-gem culinary tour, or a far-flung cultural deep-dive, she thrives on turning travel dreams into reality. Because for Rachael, adventure isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way of life.
